We have been doing CrossFit for nearly 10 years now. We love it, we know that Crossfit and High Intensity Functional Training can help people get to the fittest they have ever been in their entire lives. People become stronger and more powerful than ever, they can move a fridge or dryer by themselves. They develop flexibility, no longer have trouble touching their toes.
They build endurance and stamina and can go for a 5km run with friends with no preparation, or jump in the local 10km Fun run.
Their coordination, ballance and accuracy improve allowing them to learn new skills and spots late in life like golf or tennis. In the early days of our training, we were all or nothing, high Intensity all day, every day. But over the last decade we have found the stresses of life can affect the way that we can recover and know that high intensity every day is not the way for everyone, not even us any more. Early on, especially when you are younger, going hard every day will work, and work very well. Proof is in the fact that we used this method to train 4 teams and several individuals to the highest level in the world of “The Sport of fitness” – The CrossFit Games. But what about if you’re not trying to be a world class athlete, what if you want to train to look good and feel great? Thats why we developed our Build Programme. Build is the opposite of High Intensity training day in and day out. Build allows you to slow down, focus on the quality of your movement, working under the eye of an experienced coach and get an epic workout. Leaving you feeling revitalised and ready for your next training session, not dead, dreading the thought of having to go back to the gym.
The Build programme works as a standalone programme or it compliments high intensity training extremely well.
Some of our clients achieve excellent results from attending just build classes a few days a week and then getting out and enjoying other sports such as rugby, tennis and running. Other clients of ours use our build programme to compliment their CrossFit training. Attending a split of say four Crossfit and one build or three crossfit and two build, this splits up their week, allows them to listen to their bodies, not leave them feeling crushed and excited to get back into the gym.
I personally have been using this system of a mixture of Build Classes and CrossFit/Functional Fit Classes over the past 6-7 Weeks since look down ended and its been amazing to watch my lifting numbers get back to where they were when I was competing at the CrossFit Games 5 years ago. ( I was training 12-15 Hours per week then living the life of a pro athlete)
Being excited to get back into the gym is what leads to consistency, consistency leads to amazing results.
Myself and a lot of our clients are happier, healthier, moving better and will continue to long into the future.
